After careful consideration over the past few years, we made the decision late last year to disperse our cowherd to CK Cattle Co., owned and operated by Chris and Kristi Effling. 

We feel very fortunate to have found a ranch family that is as dedicated and enthusiastic about the Simmental breed as we have been over the last several decades. We know they will carry on our approach to cattle breeding with the same emphasis on productivity, longevity, and fresh genetics.

Due to this dispersion, R&R Cattle will not hold our annual bull sale in February. However, the 2025 R&R yearling bulls will be offered for sale in the CK Cattle production sale on February 14 at the ranch in Highmore, SD.

We can't fully express our appreciation for the buyers, bidders, and everyone who has shown interest in R&R cattle over the last several decades. Whether you were a repeat buyer every year, a first-time breeder, or just stopped by to look, finding the bull or female that worked for your program was always our highest priority.

The cattle industry, especially the Simmental breed, has provided us with lifelong friends and memories and helped instill in our children the values that matter most. We will still be around at shows, sales, and cattle events and will always be part of the cattle industry.

While we're stepping back from our full operation, Steve isn't ready to completely hang up his hat. He kept a small group of ET fall yearling heifers—daughters of R&R Miss Top Grade C534, the prolific dam of several top-selling bulls including R&R Testament J155—which will be bred early this spring. The Simmental genetics work we've loved for so many years will continue, just on a slightly smaller scale!

 We have been producing performance-oriented cattle for more than six decades. Our Simmental, SimAngus, and Angus bulls and females are aimed at the commercial production of efficient beef cattle with high cutability.

Traits such as polled or horned status, color, eye and udder pigmentation, disposition, udder quality, scrotal circumference and hoof quality are taken into consideration when making breeding decisions.

Bulls selected for use in the cow herd excel in individual performance, maternal traits, carcass merit, and phenotype while maintaining balanced EPDs.

We only select the best sires for our herd, and the 2024 calf crop is no different. Sires featured this year include W/C Intimidator 533K,OMF Epic E27, Hook’s Eagle 6E, CLRS Homeland 327H, R&R Testament J155 (our top selling bull in our 2022 sale), R&R Final StrawK242 (to selling bull in 2023 sale) and Angus sired calves from Square B True North.
